Removal of varicose veins in Perth
Vein removal explained
Vein treatments are becoming increasingly minimally invasive and non-surgical as advances in this area progress. Physical vein removal may however still be recommended if your abnormal “branch veins” are very large.
Untreated venous reflux and associated varicose veins reflect impaired circulation and cause “stale” blood to pool in the veins of your legs, and this may cause venous ulcers, venous eczema and blood clots.
Options for vein removal
There are multiple treatment options for vein removal. Vein surgery or vein stripping used to be the predominant treatment until the 1960s. Since then, new and innovative, less invasive vein treatments have been developed and tested.
At The Vein Clinic, we offer a range of minimally invasive and non-surgical treatments too. As a patient, you can have the benefit of “both worlds”, with a focus on long-term results, and minimal disruption of your everyday life and activities.
Check out the overview of our treatment options to get familiar with the various procedures. They include methods based on injections for veins, laser for veins, or different types of sclerotherapy.
We always start with an in-depth ultrasound and clinical assessment of your vein health. Symptoms experienced or noticed at the surface are often an indicator of underlying vein problems. The veins visible on the surface can be compared to branches of a tree. The branches only exist as there is an underlying “trunk” feeding them.
Treatment is first directed to closing the “trunk” usually with laser or medical adhesive. The branches are then treated by means of foam sclerotherapy injections with or without associated removal of larger bulging surface veins.
This unique approach helps get a faster cosmetic improvement and avoid complications and recurrences after treatment.
About non-surgical vein removal
Non-surgical vein removal is done in our state-of-the-art clinic in Subiaco (Perth). In a minimal amount of sessions, you will benefit from a “walk in walk out” approach. Compared to vein surgery at the hospital, you will experience less downtime, and less discomfort after your treatment.
If you need vein removal, but you also want to keep living your everyday life, come and speak to us at The Vein Clinic. Based on your personal situation and your diagnosis, we will explain the various treatment options and the timeframes that are involved.
